CHILI FEED!
The Gardens hosted a chili feed on Saturday, August 3.  This was a potluck for the grand opening of the new shelter.  The contest for the best chili had the following categories:  Best Overall, Hottest Overall, Best Chili with Beans, Best Chili without Beans, Best Vegetarian.
GARDEN MAINTENANCE

Prior to the chili feed on August 3rd, some cleanup work needs to be done at the garden. The garden needs to be mowed.  The area beside the shelter needs to be mowed as well.  Garbage needs to picked up and put in the appropriate garbage bins behind the shed.  Pot holes need to be filled with chips.  The ornamental beds at the front of the garden need to be weeded and mulched.  Our charity food plots need to be weeded as well.  Charity plots are C23, C24, C25, D27 and D28.  All of the charity food plots except C25 are covered with black plastic.  Thanks for your help getting these things done.

UPKEEP

Recently the garden was walked.  The following list reflects plots that need to be covered, weeded or are works in progress.  The plots are:  A13, A14, A16, A17, A21, A22, A28, B8, B16, B26, B30, B31, B33, B35, C2, C6, C12, C25, D6, D12, D17, D26, D31 and D32.  If one of these is your plot, please cover, weed or complete the work in progress on it.

ANNUAL PLOT FEES
Plot fees for the 2002 garden season are due. Please send your check to P.O. Box 33395, Juneau, AK  99803.

PATHS

It is the gardener's responsibility to maintain the paths around their plots.  There are a number of paths that are totally overgrown with weeds.  People, particularly visitors, like to walk the gardens and the maintained paths between the plots make it easy to get from one garden area to another.

HELP WANTED!

There are several projects, committees or board of trustees that need people to help out.  If you are interested in helping out with any of these projects, committees or board membership, please call Linda Mosher at 586-2546.
